Born in December 1962 in Qi Dong, Hunan province. He is a Doctor of engineering, researcher and doctoral supervisor. Currently, he is the deputy chief designer of China's manned space program, the director of national key laboratory of human factor engineering, the vice president of China space society, the executive director of China astronautical society and the editor in chief of ‘Space Medicine and Medical Engineering’ and ‘Astronaut’. And He is the chief scientist of the national 973 major basic research program. And he is also the leaders of China's aerospace medical engineering discipline, human engineering discipline.
In 1992, He participated the national manned space engineering process development, and He was the former director of China astronaut research and training center, the former deputy chief designer, chief designer and commander in chief of the mission's flight system. He was responsible for the astronaut system and control system development work, and made a significant contribution to the implementation and development of China's manned space engineering. And he established the key engineering laboratory, dedicated to promoting the enrichment and development of aerospace medical engineering and human engineering disciplines. He was in the first batch to be selected as the first and second level of the " National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project". In 1998, they were granted special government subsidies. In 2004, they won the national medal for outstanding contributions to manned spaceflight, and they were awarded QiuShi outstanding youth utility project of China Association for Science and Technology. In 2006, they won the prize of Zeng Xianzi aerospace foundation. And later Chen was elected to be the Person of the Year in 2007 and 2008.
He won 1 special prize, 1 first prize and 1 second prize of national science and technology progress award, 7 first prizes and 9 second prizes of ministerial scientific and technological achievements. He has published 7 academic monographs, 5 popular science works and 3 translated works, and published over 100 papers and attained 11 invention patents.
